Louis Riel and Gimli/Winnipeg Beach Pillows

I showed these Louis Riel and Gimli pillows at the 2007 This Ain't Your Grandma's Craft Sale. Some stores picked up on them and here's an article that appeared in Western Living Magazine in 2008. The Winnipeg Free Press may also include the pillows in an upcoming "off-beat gift guide"!

Swords At Miami Beach

So you sometimes see interesting things in Miami. I'm not from the USA so I'm not used to being able to buy tasers and swords at the mall.

I was walking by this guy on Miami Beach and he pulled out these two big swords out of his suitcases. I couldn't believe my eyes. He then walked into the ocean, shoes and hat still on, and proceeded to do these ritualistic sword carving type stuff. I'm not kidding! He'd go into the water, then pop out with the swords made in an "X". I got my video camera as quickly as I could and filmed until I was motioned by the police to leave.

What was this guy thinking? First off, they are weapons. The few people around him at this secluded part of the beach had packed up and left. Secondly, he almost gets pushed over by the waves and could have stabbed or cut himself. What do you think?

From Dis To Dat Bags

I'm an extreme crafter and recycler. Well... kinda. Not always... I guess only when something is extremely cool!

So if any of you guys or gals have stuff in your closet that you no longer use, but can't part with, but wish you could still use it somehow... consider the below.

From Dis...

To Dat (10 hours later)...

If you're interested, please e-mail me at dumbchauffeur@gmail.com.

Note: All bags are fully lined with a heavy duty nylon. They include inside pockets. See other pictures in this blog!

The cost to do this are as follows:

From your own jacket = $250
From my own vintage collection (from vintage stores, internet...) = $325

Also, "suit bags" are available. Bring me your old suits and ties or choose them from my own collection! Make it your own!

These bags have an adjustable strap and have a flap so it is considered a "messenger bag". They also have a magnetic closure and usable pockets on the outside of the bag and on the inside! It fits a lap top as well (up to 15 inches tall and 12.5 inches wide).

From your own suits = $100
From my own collection = $120

Havana 2008

"Nice" video of Rafael and my trip to Havana this past February. It features live music from the streets of Havana, as well as police harassment (seriously!) footage. It's such a beautiful city and Cuba is a wonderful country. We stayed with Rafael's relatives.

Wristlet / Fanny

The reason why I like craft shows and hanging out with my friends so much is because of the collaborations and ideas that come out of those sessions! At a recent craft show, my friends Celeana and Tara asked me to continue on with an original wristlet/fanny pack that I made. They wanted them out of vintage leather jackets. So here's what I came up with! This one is for Celeana.

In case you are trying to figure it out, the clasp can be attached to the zipper pull and it is now a wristlet. Take the clasp off the zipper pull and put it through a couple of front pant loops and attach the clasp to the d-ring and now it's a little fanny pack.
